Prof. Philippa Musoke
Philippa Musoke, MBChB, FAAP, PhD is a Professor Emeritus, Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, Makerere University, Kampala Uganda, and a Co-Principal Investigator (PI) for the Johns Hopkins University-Uganda Clinical Trials Unit, based at the Makerere University-Johns Hopkins University Clinical Research Site (MUJHU), Kampala. Over the last 30 years, Prof. Musoke has been involved in multiple perinatal HIV prevention clinical trials including the landmark HIVNET012 trial, HPTN046, SWEN, and PROMISE which all informed WHO HIV prevention guidelines, leading to the implementation of prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) services globally. Â She chairs the national PMTCT and Paediatric ART national advisory sub-committees, serves as international vice chair for the NIH DAIDS IMPAACT network, and is currently the PI for the Birth Defects Surveillance project in Uganda.
